Wanting to volunteer?

Volunteer Rules
All parents/visitors must sign in and out at the office and wear a visitor’s badge.
The Bishop has mandated that all volunteers take a Protecting God’s Children class.
All school volunteers must also have cleared fingerprints and criminal background check on file in the office before participating in school activities. Please visit the front office for background check paperwork and instructions on how to get fingerprinted. Note that it may take up to 6 weeks for your fingerprints to be cleared.
Criminal background check must be repeated every 5 years.

Volunteer prerequisites:
1) Attend a Protecting God’s Children workshop, and visit the front office for instructions on getting fingerprinted and background checked.
2) Stop by the cafeteria lobby to sign up as a volunteer. Many volunteer opportunities are available, including fundraisers, Catholic Schools Week, Beautification, and many others!
3) Print out a Volunteer Log, and record the hours you worked.
4) Submit your log to the front office each month (no later than the last Wednesday of the month).

AFTER SCHOOL CARE

All School Uniforms for students in Pre K 3, VPK and Kindergarten through 8th grade can be purchased through Poindexter Uniform Company.

Pre K 3 and VPK
  • Girls: Gray Polo Shirt with Sacred Heart Logo, plaid uniform shorts (girls may bear black pants on cold winter days) tennis shoes.
  • Boys: Gray Polo Shirt with Sacred Heart Logo, black shorts or pants, tennis shoes.

Kindergarten - 4th Grade
  • Girls: Red Polo shirt with Sacred Heart Logo, plaid jumper, red or white knee high socks, Black or brown dress shoes that tie or buckle or solid black tennis shoes with black soles and black laces. On PE days students must wear their PE uniform, black or white crew socks, and solid black tennis shoes with black soles and black laces.

Pick Up & Drop Off

At the beginning and end of each school day, our teachers and staff are committed to safely transitioning all students in and out of the campus. Please follow all teach and staff instructions, their direction will ensure the safety for everyone.


PRE-K3, VPK & Kindergarten students must be dropped off in the morning no earlier than 7:10 a.m. Students should be in their classrooms and ready to begin the day by 7:45 a.m.


1st through 8th grade students must be dropped off in the morning no earlier than 7:10 a.m. and must be picked-up no later than 3:05 p.m. Students should be in their classrooms and ready to begin the day by 7:45 a.m.


Tardy Students- Parents must park in the parking lot and call (904) 771-5800 to notify the office of your arrival. A staff member will come to your car and escort your student to his or her classroom.


Early Dismissal- If you must pick up your student before the end of the school day, please call the front office at (904) 771-5800 to notify them of the time you will arrive to retrieve your student. Upon arrival, please call the same number and a staff member will escort your child to your car.


Please stay alert and focused while in the parking lot.
The use of a cell phone is prohibited while active student pick-up and drop-off is occurring.
During student pick-up, teachers and staff must verify the individual picking up your child. Please ensure that your student’s teacher is aware of the person authorized to pick-up your child.
Students should wear their seat belts while the vehicle is in motion.
Do not park in front of the school, gym, rectory or side lot.
No parking is permitted in the main lot and parents may not exit the car and approach the sidewalk in front of the school buildings.
Only parents dropping off and picking up from the Pre-K3 and VPK Buildings may park in the side lot while waiting for a staff member to retrieve their child.

BEFORE SCHOOL CARE: Not available at this time


ARRIVAL: Beginning at 7:10 a.m., all traffic must enter from Blanding Blvd. and exit through 105th street (in front of Pre-K Building.)

Enter Blanding Blvd. in a single line. You will then be directed by a staff member to drive toward the school building and enter the parent drop-off line. Students must have a mask on their face and wait for their temperatures to be taken by a staff member. They may then exit the car on the right side only and walk to their classroom.


DISMISSAL: Beginning at 2:30, enter Blanding Blvd. in a single line. You will then be directed by a staff member to enter one of five lanes. When it is time for your lane to enter the parent pick-up lane, you will be instructed by a staff member to do so. When you approach the sidewalk, please remain in your car, unlock the door, and your student will enter the car on the right side only. All students must fasten their seat belts and young children must be fastened in proper car seats.


Please Be Advised: the speed limit on school grounds is 5 M.P.H. and must be observed in the parking lot at all times.

After School Care

Sacred Heart School is pleased to offer your child After School Care (ASC). This program is designed to provide a safe, enjoyable environment for your child/children. It operates from 2:45 PM to 6:00 PM. ASC is open the first day of school in August through the last day of the regular school year. On early dismissal days, our opening time will be adjusted at no extra charge. ASC is not open when school is not in session. Enrollment is open to students of Sacred Heart.

For information not covered in this brochure call the school office at 904-771-5800 or After School Care at 904-772-1010 after 2:30 PM. Students in Karate, Dance or other activities must check in with ASC first. At that time they will go to assigned area for activity. Students are responsible for clothes for that activity. Students in Karate may take equipment bag to gym before school starts. After Karate they will change back in gym for ASC.

COST
A non-refundable registration fee of $50.00 per student or $75.00 per family is required.
Monthly Fees (Note that these fees take into account early dismissal days):
Picked up by 4:00 PM $140.00 for first child (add $100 for each additional child)
Picked up by 5:00 PM $170.00 for first child (add $100 for each additional child)
Picked up by 6:00 PM $180.00 for first child (add $100 for each additional child)
Students that need childcare until 3:30 will go to protective care
After School Care tuition is to be paid by the 15th of each month. A late fee of $20 will be added for tuition payments received after the 20th of the month. Payments two months in arrears may lead to termination of After School Care enrollment. Payments are to be placed in the box located beside the sign out sheet.

LATE PICKUP FEES
It is very important that your child/children be picked up by 6:00 PM. Late pick-ups will be charged an overtime rate of $1.00 per minute. NO EXCEPTIONS. Habitual late pickups will result in termination of After School Care enrollment. Late fees are to be paid to the person in charge at the time of pick up.

PERSONAL ITEMS
A small area is assigned to each student where they should keep their personal items. Nothing should remain overnight and we STRONGLY urge you to label your children’s belongings with their names (especially shoes, girls’ uniforms, and boys’ navy pants). Children may bring toys from home as long as they are non-violent and the children accept responsibility for them.

ACTIVITIES
The children will play, rest and have the chance to enjoy many individual and group activities that are educational and “just fun”. The program is scheduled as follows:
1. Roll Call – Students must come to ASC and be checked in prior to going to any after school activities (sport practices, art, music classes, etc.)
2. Change clothes (if desired; must be appropriate for weather)
3. Snack
4. Prayer/quiet time (homework, reading, movies, rest, etc.)
5. Organized play (outside, weather permitting)
6. 5:30 PM is “settling down” time and toys are put away

HOMEWORK
Assigned times:
K-1 (4:30 PM) 30 min.
2-4 (4:15 PM) 45 min.
5-8 (4:00 PM) 60 min.
Students are expected to provide a supply box containing:
-Pens, pencils (as needed)
-Colored pencils, markers, crayons, etc.
-Rulers
-Scissors (as needed)
Parents MUST provide school paper, protractors, compasses, etc. Student have access at ASC to extra reading material if homework is finished. The student (if homework is completed) makes this decision. The adult caregivers are not able to check the quality or completeness of homework assignments. Adult supervision is available for questions concerning directions for work and to maintain quiet. The responsibility for completion of assigned work remains with the student and parent.

FOOD
A variety of nutritious snacks will be provided between 3:00 and 3:30 PM. If your child has a food allergy the director must be notified in writing on the first day of the program. Please send in your child’s snack each day if they have food allergies.

PLAY CLOTHES
Play clothes should be sent in each day if you do not wish your child to play in the school uniform.
August – November: shorts (weather permitting)
December – March: long pants or sweats

DISCIPLINE
Good behavior will be expected of all children in the program. This is necessary to provide a safe and happy environment for everyone. If a child seriously undermines this philosophy, it can lead to expulsion from the program. In the event of any disciplinary action, parents and principal will be notified and conferred with.
